Discovery

Uncropped pictures ahead...

This from the second flyover that they did.  The first was made around 9:40 or so, then they flew around the DC area for photo opportunities before returning to the airport, doing the second flyover, then circling around to land.  The flyovers were done at 500 feet above the runway.  I'd brought in my handheld transceiver and tuned it to the runway's radio frequency to try to keep informed as to where the 747 was and when it'd be approaching.  I got the impression that a lot of it was the plane's pilot was playing a good bit of it by ear, since the controller in the tower didn't seem to know until the last minutes when it was on approach.  Of course, some of that was probably due to traveling in and out of the control/airspace of two airports.

And one of the landing.

And one of Discovery parked in the service area waiting to be unloaded.

I'd hoped to get pictures of the Discovery being unloaded, but NASA was all sneaky-like and did that at night.  I came into work this morning to see that they'd loaded the Enterprise onto the 747 last night, so I missed that too.

EDIT:  Hmm. I'm not sure what's up with that second picture.  It ends up looking distorted.  Clicking and viewing it shows it properly though.
