Friday at home
Apr. 16th, 2004 10:43 amSometimes you've just got to call in sick. I've been suffering from seasonal allergies for a while now and they're even worse than usual this year. I'm wondering if it's more than just allergies though, since I've also been pretty darned tired and weak as well. Add in the poor sleep for the past weeks and you get a really worn out fellow. Yes, I could've gone into work today, but I decided that another less-than-productive day spent trying not to doze in front of the workstation just wasn't worth it.
The plan was to get a good night's sleep and sleep in this morning. The county, rather annoyingly, decided that last night would be a great night to start some nighttime road work outside. About 10:40, as I was drifting off to sleep, there was the drone of big diesel engines and much beeping of back-up warnings. That got me awake, trying to figure out whether it was a firetruck in the apartment complex or something. Then came some rather gawdawful roaring and clunking noises. Dragging myself out of bed I had a look through the blinds. They were out there stripping the surface off of Randolph Road. Sheesh! After about a half hour of this, they were far enough down the road to not be a nuisance. Or so I thought. Ya see, Randolph is 3 lanes in each direction outside the complex, so, about 45 minutes later...more beeping..more engines...and they were back to do the next lane. Oh, and they came back later to do the other 3 lanes. I think it was about 2:30 before they finally went away for good.
So I slept til about 8:30, which was nice. Woulda been better if I'd gotten a proper night's sleep, but...eh.
