Feline deja vu

murakoziJust shy of 18 years ago when I lived in TX, I arrived at work and my coworkers showed me a little black kitten that'd been abandoned in the parking lot. She was a tiny thing with eyes that were still pretty much blue. They'd put her in a cardboard box with some milk and put it near the customer entrance. At some point, someone put a baby receiving blanket in there for it.
Of course, being the stupid pushover I am, I ended up taking her. I spent my lunch hour driving the new kitten to the vet where she spent the afternoon getting checked out and tested for nasty diseases. The vet's estimate was that she was maybe 3 weeks old. Fortunately, she gladly ate solid food and didn't need to be bottle fed. Katie's turned out to be a tough lil girl even after such a rocky start in life. She'll be 18 on the 16th of this month.
Fast forward to Saturday. My phone rings. It's my little sister. She and her husband had been to a Bowie Baysox game that night. Walking back to their car, they heard a cat crying off in the dark beyond the parking lot. After some searching around through the thorny bushes there, they found a little black kitten, only a few weeks old, with eyes that were still blue-ish.
Unfortunately, they can't keep the kitten. They already have a cat. Normally that wouldn't be a huge deal, but their cat has a bad reaction to flv vaccines and thus doesn't get them. It's a 100% indoor cat. My sister can't risk the lil kitten bringing something in to infect her adult cat.
For now, a neighbor agreed to be a foster parent for the kitten til my sister finds it a home. I really hope they find one soon. It's a cute lil kitty:

Seeing those pictures is like looking at pictures of Katie when I brought her home.
