I'm no birdwatcher, but I do enjoy just sitting back and watching 'em now and then.  Heck, I almost find the idea of sitting on a park bench feeding ducks and pigeons appealing.  It's just a relaxation thing, I guess.

While there are plenty of different kinds of birds in this area, the ones that tend to live around my place are the fairly common ones such as robins, finches, mocking birds, starlings, crows, and of course, sparrows.  One kind of bird I, for some reason, enjoy catching sight of now and then, though, is a redwing blackbird.  They're pretty common throughout the south but, for whatever reason, I don't often see them.

Somewhere along the line I started thinking of them as offramp birds, or maybe that should be cloverleaf birds.  Either way, the reason behind that is that I only ever seem to see them perching on guard rails when I'm driving around a cloverleaf loop from one road to another.  I don't think I've ever seen one in any other setting.  I guess that the plants or whatever that tend to grow in the inside of the interchange ramps provide an ideal environment for them.  Or maybe they're just easier to spot there since the guard rails make a nice spot to perch.
