..and the office aint built on Christoper Robin's high ground, either.
Yeah, I'm showing my age again with that.
It's raining today, which is pretty much what it's been doing most days for a while now. I guess from a glass-half-full perspective, we're certainly not gonna be having a drought for a while.
The building my office is in has a kinda bad history when it comes to the roof. It's been damaged in storms and hurricanes that've passed by over the years. They fix it, but it still almost always ends up leaking somewhere whenever there's a lot of rain. Since my company occupies the entire top floor, we get to experience all the fun of coming in to find wet ceiling tiles that came down over the weekend. It's particularly bad this time. Probably the worst I've seen in my 5 years here. The maintenance folks have been up and cleared out the wet tile bits, and a half dozen offices have plastic and tarps down to try to protect stuff that hasn't yet been water damaged. The rain is still coming down hard, though, and more issues are cropping up.
One of those is a new one that's never popped up before. It was discovered in my office, too. A coworker was in, disucussing some stuff and asked about my ceiling leaking. Nope. It wasn't. Mine is one of the offices at the end of the building which, so far, has never had an issue with roof leaks. Those generally start with an office about 3 doors down from mine. But the coworker pointed out that the carpet was obviously wet underneath the chair mat at my desk. Turns out it is wet. It seems to be coming in along the baseboard under the window. Ugh. The AA near me and I checked the nearby offices and, yup, looks like most of them have wet carpets too. The water's not coming in from anyplace obvious, either. We'll just hafta see if it reaches any power cables in the wall and ends up fryin me in my chair sometime.
