Raise the roof

In previous posts, I've mentioned the issues with the roof of the building in which my office is located. My company finally persuaded the building management and owners to perform roof repairs sooner instead of later. The original plan was to repair and/or replace the roof in January. That kinda doesn't make tons of sense to me, since that's about when the weather around her starts to turn rainy 'n snowy.
So they started on it last week, which is good. But they're doing the work while we're in the office, which is bad. Of course, it'd be a bit much to expect them to do it at night or on weekends, but still, it's not exactly a quiet process.
Friday, the workers were removing loose gravel from the roof. This involved a couple large and complex looking trucks with 'Hydrovac' written on the side. I'm guessing that means the was being vacuumed off. Whatever the process, it involved a lot of rumbling around up there, which caused me to comment to a coworker that it sounded like the roof was now being used as a pasture for a herd of frequently stampeding buffalo. It was a bit distracting to say the least.
Today, there's a crane parked outside that's hoisting up great big pallets of what appear to be panels of foam insulation. I'm not sure how those are being moved around once they're on the roof, but from the massive thumps shaking my office, I'm guessing they're using some sort of trebuchet. So today it was decided that the herd of buffalo was replaced (or possibly eaten) by either a giant or a lare ogre who took up residence up there over the weekend.
Only about 90 minutes left in my work day. Hopefully, I'll make it through that without any ceiling tiles or light fixtures falling on my head.
I wonder what new exotic roof dwelling creature tomorrow will bring.
