Goodbye Bonnie

Sandy just called me from the barn with bad news. Bonnie died on Wednesday.
Bonnie was my favorite mare at the barn. She took over that position when Ellie died a few years back. She was a shaggy blonde-maned sorrel and her build and white face always made me think she had some draft in her somewhere.
She was an old girl, so he death isn't a huge surprise. She, Wheatchex, and Stella were an inseparable trio. They'd get turned out together each morning and call back and forth to each other when they were in their stalls. Sandy said that when Wheatchex and Stella were turned out on Thursday, they just stood around quietly and moped. They knew their friend was gone.
It'll be tough, for a while, going into the barn and not seeing that white face turn around and hear a little hello nicker.
