Thar she blows

Yesterday, the aquarium was looking like it was reaching the end of its first nitrogen cycle. The ammonia level was nearly zero, nitrites were midrange and dropping, and nitrates were up. So I went ahead and did a partial water change and checked it again this morning. It was pretty much the same.
This morning I went out and got the first fish for the tank. 3 giant danios and 3 zebra danios. They're tough lil guys that should be able to ride out the current nitrite levels as they drop to something more normal and should do fine through the lil minispikes that are sure to come as things stabilize in there. After using some air hose to let tank water slowly drip into their bags for a long time, letting 'em grow accustomed to the aquarium's chemistry. I'd have let 'em go like that longer but their lil bags were filling up, so I stopped the drip and just floated the bags for a while. After what seemed like an eternity, I let the little guys loose in the tank.
So far, they're still doing great. They're swimming around happily and after over 2 hours, none seem to be in any distress. Assuming all goes well, in a week or two, I'll get 'em some more tankmates. Probably some tetras.
