Stuff like this explains why I'm so weird and can't string two coherent sentences together.
http://www.captain20.com/
I watched Captain 20 #3 during some of my formative years and got a dose of Speed Racer, Ultraman, Wacky Racers, Gilligan's Island and the like every day after school. Oh, and the hamster races, I'm sure they've had some profound effect on shaping me, too. Yes. I was a card carrying member of the Captain 20 Club. Kinda wish I still had that old card with the pictures of Col Hogan and Gilligan and all. I remember that Captain 20's 'martian space ship' that they'd show going into/out of commercials was a Klingon battle cruiser, with the primary hull from the Enterprise glued upside down on its back. I moved out of the DC area before the 'flying' PSA was made. In the mid 70's, the PSA's they showed seemed to be mostly about what to do if you found blasting caps laying around. They had the opposite effect upon me, though. I actually /wanted/ to find some in my neighborhood as a result of the commercials. I never did though. Darn. I suspect that captain 20 planted the seed that resulted in my brain being 90% full of useless tv trivia with no room for anything else.
The reason I found that site was due to a conversation with a coworker wherein I amazed him by immediately naming the actors in an old Twilight Zone episode (Elizabeth Montgomery and Charles Bronson) We got to talking about the old shows we'd watch after school way back when. He'd never heard of Captain 20.
Oh, and Captain 20 was way cooler than lame ol Captain Chesapeake up in Baltimore on channel 45. Dumb old sea captain on a houseboat in the harbor. Martians are WAY neater.
