Meet Stevie
Jul. 2nd, 2008 01:46 pmThere are a lot of birds in the barn. With plenty of beams, rafters, and other good spots for nests, plus food sources and readily available nesting materials, they love to nest in there.
Sadly, this means we sometimes find baby birds that've fallen from their nests. As I mentioned in a previous entry, that can lead to a rather unpleasant but necessary task. Not always, though.
One of the women who rides during the week and sometimes comes in on Sunday was sitting and talking to folks out in front of the barn on Sunday. She had a little box next to her. Inside was an uncovered Tupperware-like container with some paper towels in it.
Of course, we don't know whether Stevie is a male or female. I'm not sure where the name he was given came from.
Looks like we've got a barn mascot, at least for the next couple weeks.
