What a week

murakoziSheesh. There's so much going on between work, moving, and stuff. I spent two truly yawn-inducing days at a briefing thingy held by an industry association that we belong to at work. I found myself starting to nod off a number of times . During the breaks and lunch both days, while talking to the other attendees, I found out I wasn't the only one. I could've been a lot more productive back in the office.
Looks like I'm gonna get sent to a trade show in San Francisco next month. Normally this wouldn't be much more than an inconvenience, but, dangit, I'll likely have to be travelling on the first weekend after I move into the new apartment. So much for having a couple full days to unpack and stuff.
On a sad note, we lost one of the geldings at the barn this week. Calvin was one of two young geldings Don bought last year. He was a 4 year old paint. He acted like he was going to colic on Wednesday, so they gave him some Banamine to relax him and kept an eye out. He was doing well Wednesday night, but Thursday morning he was really doing badly. Don trailered him down to the equine hospital down in Leesburg. Being a young strong horse, surgery was a viable option for him. Sadly, when the doctors went in, they saw that there was just too much damage. The twisted gut had totally cut off the blood to about 90% of his large intestine. Calvin had to be put down. He was a sweet young horse and incredibly friendly. I'd really grown used to the weekly grooming sessions with him and he seemed to enjoy them a lot as well. I'll miss the fella.
I signed the lease on the new apartment on Friday. Turns out the patio doesn't face southeast like I'd thought, so it's pretty unlikely that I'll be able to get a dish put in. Pity. I'd really wanted to get away from cable tv. The installer will be there tomorrow and then I'll know for sure.
