Coming to terms
Nov. 22nd, 2004 03:37 pmTo clarify something I said in my last post:
Foghat Horse or just Foghat: A horse who makes the rider go through a bit of effort, before doing anything more than a steady plodding walk. In other words, a Slow Ride.
'You might want to get a crop, Bandy is being a real Foghat.'
And another common term here:
A Bucky, or just Bucky: Easygoing, strong, bombproof. Bucky was a big, smart, easygoing gelding who you could put anyone on. He loved little kids and took good care of some of the challenged kids we'd get at the barn sometimes. Much of my early riding was aboard Bucky. Calling a horse a Bucky is probably one of the best compliments at the barn.
'Cowboy is really turning into a Bucky' or 'Doc was an absolute Bucky this morning'
