Thar she crows!
May. 7th, 2010 10:15 amI've noticed a crow outside the office window a lot lately. Usually, it's being chased around angrily by smaller birds, presumably ones who don't like it near their nests and babies. The other day, I looked out and saw it being harried by a mockingbird, redwing blackbird, and something small like a sparrow all at the same time.
Just now I discovered the reason it's been hanging around so much. I glanced out and saw it carrying a stick or something. It circled the trees at one end of the parking lot then landed in one. Getting out the binoculars (they're useful for getting a better look at goings on at the airport across the street), I was able to make out a some light brown in the tree with a splotch of black. Looks like Mr. and Mrs. Crow are raising some kids of their own over there. I'm sure the other birds aren't all that thrilled to have them as neighbors.
