Back in October, the father of one of the students at the barn took some pictures of Mickey with his daughter in the saddle. This month, we got one of those pictures put onto the cover of the Equiery:

They shopped in those flowers at the bottom and took out a pumpkin that was in the original pic, but it is Preakness season, so it's understandable.
Of the 'tribute' covers we've gotten for horses this one was by far the easiest. Previous ones have involved people digging around trying to find good pictures of departed horses to use. While it's a little grim, Sandy has kind of decided that we should work on taking pictures of the various horses all prettied up and posing nicely to keep on file so that we'll have them when the horse dies.
She's thinking of doing one of Tonka this weekend. He's probably got a good long time before we have to worry about any tributes to him, but since he's been on a restricted diet (after foundering a little while back), he's looking darned good.
